Life at the extreme

The latest paper resulting from the controversial 2012 russian drilling of lake Vostok in Antarctica. An extreme habitat which has been covered by 4km of ice for the last 15 and 25 million years. Metagenomic and metatranscriptomic sequence analyses indicates that lake Vostok harbors a rich pro- and eucarya community. I guess life always finds a way even in absolute darkness, under extreme pressure and low nutrients.
